The Story of Lydia

Together, we are making a difference for eternity! Because of your commitment and generous support, our orphans have most of their basic needs (food, shelter, clothing, education and medication) met, our orphanage staff members also have some support for their families as tens of non-Christian students receive Christ every month as our student missionaries preach Christ in our orphanage academy, gospel dance evangelism and tens of high schools where they study all over Kenya.

Lydia Daisy is one such orphan with fire and passion in her heart to preach Christ. Lydia lost both her parents to HIV Aids when she was two years. She remained under the care of a very sick and old grandmother up to age three when she was picked up malnourished and brought to Christ Care Orphanage. She is a total orphan whose life has greatly changed by your generosity.

“My name is Lydia Daisy. I was born in 2007 during the long rains (probably between February and April). Unfortunately, no one knows the exact day. I am the only child in my fathers and mother’s house.  My first three years was full of hardship and tragedy. When I was about 1 year old, my father passed away due to HIV aids. My mother succumbed to the same disease when I was 2 years leaving me and other eight children from my late uncles and aunties under the care of our sick and old grandmother (all my uncles and aunties died as a result of HIV Aids- promoted by the law of wife inheritance).  We lacked consistent clean water, food, clothing, shelter and medical care. We hoped to die and hide from the fangs of poverty and results of HIV AIDS.

God came for me! In March 2012, Helen, late CCMI staff member, visited our sick grandmother, she saw and sympathised with our grandmother who had nine kids, all between the ages 1-10 year, most of us were dirty, thin and naked…tears began to flow in Helen’s eyes. She asked my grandmother if she could go to her workplace with one of us. As Helen expected, my grandmother was quick to point at me because I was thin, the biggest burden, and possibly dying soon. She was, doing away with me. Who is God! As I write you, I am the only surviving remnant of the nine!Helen carried me to the CCMI Orphanage. There I met Pastor Wicklife and his wife Lilian. While Pastor Wicklife is a former street kid, his wife, Lilian, grew up as an orphan having lost her father at a tender age.  They introduced me to Christ who has changed my life and blessed me. I am fed, cared for, and loved by Pastor Wicklife, his wife, and the staff and teachers of CCMI. Today, I am experiencing new life in Christ. I gave my life to Christ in 2017 at the age of 10 years.

I received my elementary education at the CCMI Orphans Academy, and I was able to take the National KCPE (Kenya Certificate of Primary Education) exam in 2021. After the results were announced, I was declared as one of the best 10 students in Migori County. I was enrolled to the prestigious Moi Nyabohanse Girls National School, courtesy of my excellent performance in Kiswahili language. I am currently a Christian Union organizer at my high school, I have had the privilege to introduce others to Jesus Christ, I continue to share with them my testimony and I always help them grow in the Lord through one-on-one discipleship.

I am so very, very thankful to God for all the sponsors of CCMI.  I am praying for continued support from the generous partners of CCMI, so that I can continue my education. I have two more years to go in Senior High School. I want to be a teacher and I will volunteer to teach hundreds of orphans at Christ Care Academy.”

Lydia’s story is just one of the many stories which can be told because of the sacrificial gift of our donors. Again, on behalf of all the orphans, students, teachers, and staff of CCMI, I and my wife want to thank all our donors and prayer partners for their continued support. Without it, what we do would be impossible. To God be all the glory for all that is being accomplished.

With deepest gratitude,
Pastor Wicklife Jeremiah Omendah
Founder and Director of CCMI

Let's talk about WATER. Many of us in America don't think twice about getting a drink from the faucet or turning on the tap to wash our dishes. Could you imagine a life without clean water? The need for WATER is ever evident as we look at the 5 things you need to know about this week at CCMI...
